Meet the team
Ian Waxman – Founder
Ian comes from an advertising and marketing background, running his own ad agency for many years. But his love for games and toys is in his blood. Ian’s great-grandfather Isaac, after who Ian was named, came to Britain at the turn of the 20th century with very little. He started selling simple toys and dolls in London’s East End markets. By the time Ian was born, the family had the largest toy warehouse in the UK and a thriving distribution business spanning the globe.
James Gatheral – lead contributor
James is a writer with a PhD in English Literature and a book published by Routledge: The Bohemian Republic (2020). He now runs a creative agency called Mammoth and publishes articles on a wide range of subjects, including history, sport, music, business, and gaming. Wizrd provides a platform for James to indulge in his passion for puzzles and board games.
